Central & suburban London rail routes

 

Beyond the Underground, suburban and central London is linked by a comprehensive range of rail services.

 

A zonal pricing scheme for travelcards applies to the rail routes shown here. For further information and timetables, contact numbers are given on pages 58-59.

 

Euston

Silverlink metro trains operate out of Euston serving North-West London stations such as Cricklewood and Hendon on the way to Watford Junction, and with routes through East London to Barking and North Woolwich, and to Richmond in the south.

 

King's Cross

Trains on the Thameslink line to Luton travel through North-West London and a commuter line serving the city's southern suburbs stops at Streatham, Wimbledon and Sutton. WACN trains run to Welwyn Garden City and Stevenage via Finsbury Park. The South Central network operates trains to Brighton via East Croydon and to Guildford via Sutton and Wimbledon.

 

Liverpool Street

Services from Liverpool Street cover London's eastern and north-eastern suburbs, running to Chingford via Walthamstow, Southend via Stratford, and to Stansted via Enfield. Operators include Anglia Railways, c2c and WAGN. The Stansted Express runs a fast service to Stansted Airport.

 

Paddington

Thames Trains run services along the Thames Valley to Oxford, Reading and Slough, stopping at Acton and Ealing in west London. The Heathrow Express operates a direct service to Heathrow Airport.

 

Victoria

Trains on the South Central routes serve Croydon and Beckenham via Forest Hill, Crystal Palace and Norbury in south London. The Gatwick Express runs a fast service to Gatwick Airport.

 

Waterloo

South West Trains run services through Richmond, Kingston and Wimbledon in south-west London to Staines and Windsor, Guildford and Woking. From Charing Cross, Waterloo East and London Bridge, South Eastern trains go to south-east London and Kent, via East Croydon.
